PDX Doulas is a nonprofit organization that provides low cost birth doulas to women at Oregon Health Sciences University (OHSU) Hospital. Our fees are paid by CareOregon through a generous grant until December 2007.
To use our services, clients must be willing to sign a confidentiality waiver stating that we are collecting information about their birth. This confidentiality waiver should be signed by all doula clients where the doula is taking notes about your birth because all health information is protected by HIPAA for all hospitals.
The healthcare staff will be required to fill out an evaluation about our services. In order for our funding to be renewed we must show satisfaction from the clients and OHSU staff; so you may see some other forms being filled out at your birth.
Each PDX doula will have a support group available to assist them by telephone and in person for their births. They have each received professional training and support through PDX Doulas. They have submitted to multiple interviews, drug screen, background check, and specific floor orientation to OHSU. All of our doulas are certified or seeking certification.
Our Doulas are assigned by the hospital and clients cannot ask for a specific doula.
If you are interested in hiring a specific PDX Doula and your terms and agreement will be different and will be discussed with you during
the interview process. You would be hiring this doula independently and the fee would be paid by you and not covered by grantfunding.
